ARUNDEL — Residents of Arundel will be able to review and make their opinions known about several proposed land use ordinances at a special town meeting Monday evening.

The Arundel Planning Board has forwarded two amendments with recommendations to the Arundel Board of Selectmen regarding commercial campgrounds and commercial riding stables within town limits. A a Special Town Meeting Warrant containing both ordinances will be voted on at the meeting.

If one of the proposed ordinances is approved, performance standards for commercial equestrian facilities will be established for all Arundel zoning districts.

The new standards would define the distinction between Commercial Equestrian Stable and an Equestrian Center and what uses would be alllowed by either of those facilities.

It also would mandate minimum land use parcel sizes for equestrian facilities and create new lighting, sanitation and driveway design and on-site parking rules and determine the minimum distance from a stable to occupied dwellings.

The other proposed ordinance would allow commercial campgrounds to house RVs at Arundel facilities all year long.

It also would allow commercial campground sites to install permanent and semipermanent decks and Florida Rooms through the use of a permit, while limiting the campground season from April 1 to Oct. 31 of each calendar year.

Both proposed ordinances have been recommended for approval to the town selectmen by members of the Arundel Planning Board.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Mildred L. Day School in Arundel.
