NEW GLOUCESTER — University of Southern Maine sophomore Chandler Vincent of Pownal won his third straight men’s cross country race Saturday, taking the top spot on the podium at the Bates Super XC Shootout held at Pineland Farms.
Vincent covered the 8,000- meter men’s course in a time of 26 minutes, 27.6 seconds to finish more than seven seconds ahead of Bates sophomore Justin Levine.
USM sophomore Nick Harriman of Lisbon and freshman Cam Meier of Bowdoin also ran well, with Harriman taking 39th in 28:22.3 and Meier 41st in 28:24.6 for the Huskies.
Bates won the unique event (10 runners scored) with 127 points. Tufts University was runner-up with 197 points, followed by WPI with 240 and Southern Maine with 298.
The Huskies return to competition on Sept. 30 (1 p.m.) at the Bowdoin College Invitational.
