Following a successful straw poll vote on the concept design and budget for the new Morse High School and Bath Regional Career and Technical Center Tuesday, RSU 1 officials traveled to Millinocket to present the plans to the State Board of Education.
“They approved it unanimously, which is good news,” said Superintendent Patrick Manuel. “They didn’t have any questions, and supported the concept design and the budget.”
The next step of the process in building the new education facility will be a vote on $7.2 million in bonds in November for additional features that the state is unwilling to pay for. Leading up to that vote, officials plan to host multiple presentations in the school district’s communities.
“We’ll make a point to go to each community, to the elected officials’ meetings, and then we’ll probably do just a regular, public meeting at Morse,” said Manuel.
The new Morse High School and Bath Regional Career and Technical Center will be built at the Wing Farm Business Park near Bath Middle School and the Edward J. McMann Recreational Area, and could be occupied by August 2020.
