DAYTON — Dennis Joe Patterson, Sr., 73 years, a resident of Dayton, Maine died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 at his home.

Dennis was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 28, 1944, a son of Albert J. and Zelma (Bertrand) Patterson and graduated from Pleasantville High School in Des Moines, Iowa, the Class of 1962. He served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967.

He was employed as truck driver for several businesses for many years and then for the last few years, he drove a school bus for RSU 21, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel Schools, and also for Shuttle Bus Zoom of Biddeford.

Dennis was a long time member of New Life Church of Biddeford where he was involved serving others.

Dennis loved to socialize with people and also pray for people, loved to do missionary work to support others, spending time with his family and traveling with his wife.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jacqueline A. (Turgeon) Patterson of Dayton, Maine; a son, Dennis Joe “DJ” Patterson Jr. and his fiancée Nancy of Farmington, New Hampshire; two stepdaughters, Deborah M. Sayer and her husband Brian of Arundel and Maureen C. Patione and her husband Larry of Biddeford; a brother, Gary Patterson of Tampa, Florida; a sister Donna Finney of Ankeny, Iowa; six grandchildren, Ryan, Marisa, Christian, Hayden, Dillon and Wesley; two great- granddaughters, Averly and Lana, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer St. Kennebunk, ME.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at New Life Church, 551 Alfred Road, Biddeford, Maine. Interment will be at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, at 11a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017.
