BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College’s 19th Annual Common Good Day is planned for Saturday, Sept. 16, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Common Good Day is a campus-wide day of service that fosters collaboration between members of the College and the greater Brunswick community.
In recent years, more than 500 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Friends of Bowdoin have volunteered with more than 50 different service agencies — taking on projects such as gardening, trail maintenance, painting, yard work, grant research, and spending time with children or the elderly. This year’s Common Good Day will offer plenty of opportunities to have fun and get involved, with events including a catered lunch and service projects. First time participants will receive a free t-shirt.
If you would like to sign up for a service project or learn more about Common Good Day 2017, contact Andrew Lardie, Associate Director of the McKeen Center for the Common Good, at alardie@bowdoin.edu or (207) 798-4274. Members of the Association of Bowdoin Friends should register for projects by Wednesday, Sept. 13. Early registration is helpful.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
