BANGOR — The University of Southern Maine men’s cross country team swept the first six positions to post a perfect score and win the annual Husson Harrier Classic run Saturday at Saxl Park.
The Huskies’ first five finishers combined for a score of 15 points to easily outdistance runner- up Husson which finished with 55 points. The University of Maine-Presque Isle took third with 71 points.
Sophomore and former Freeport High School standout Chandler Vincent won the event by covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:16.60.
Also, Nick Harriman of Lisbon, a sophomore, was fifth for USM.
Southern Maine is back in action this upcoming Saturday at 11 a.m., competing in the Bates College Invitational at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester.
