TOPSHAM — The Morse High School jayvee soccer team started its season with a hard- caught tie against Erskine Academy recently.

The Shipbuilders began their strike midway through the first half when Marija Mederica delivered a pass through the middle and met Mary LaRochelle, who sent the shot to the top of the net.

The Eagles’ offense quickly came back to tie it up.

Morse’s second goal started when an attack from Zoe Sreden pulled Erskine’s keeper from the net. After a flurry of attempts in front of the goal, Livi Rigney pushed the ball past the last defender and into the back of the net.

Despite a strong performance from sophomore goalie Abby Sreden ( six saves), the Eagles were able to tie it up with minutes left in the game.

Morse’s attack was led by strong performances by Samantha Myers, Deliah Lamarre, Helena Eich and Meghan Clifford.

The ’ Builders look to pick up their first win against Leavitt today.
