Editor,
Not sure who is responsible for checking the traffc light at the Five Points intersection in Biddeford, but somebody should really check that device out.
On several occasions, the light suddenly changed from green to red on Alfred Street turning onto Elm Street headed north. I saw at least two drivers have to slam on their brakes at that light to avoid an accident as the light suddenly changed.
Then there’s rush hour on Friday nights headed north on Elm Street. It’s next to impossible for more than two or three cars to get through the light at CVS/McDonalds, meanwhile, a steady stream of cars turning onto Elm Street at Alfred Street are left stranded in the middle of the intersection even as lights in opposite directions turn green.
This is all very dangerous and somebody is going to get hurt.
I suggest that the state traffic light inspectors look at those signals before a significant loss of life takes place or a multi-car pileup that will shut down the roadway for hours.
Call me crazy, but those traffic lights at that intersection really need some work or adjustment.
