SANFORD — Just like computer users are happy to have cache—data storage or memory space— the Animal Welfare Society is glad SIS Bank has “Cache”—its new dog blogger who publishes articles to the bank’s website.

A donation of $500 was made by SIS Bank to the Kennebunk nonprofit on behalf of the character’s new name.

SIS Bank held a fan contest to name the mascot Husky, whose technology-based blogs are ghostwritten by humans. After several dozen names were initially submitted, the field was narrowed down to six names with the winner, Cache, chosen by public voting on the bank’s website.

In lieu of providing a prize to the winner who submitted the technology-financial pun moniker, SIS Bank donated to the animal-friendly charity to celebrate the ‘pawsitively pawsome’ new name.

Animal Welfare Society is a No Kill humane society serving all of York County. In addition to animal adoption, the shelter offers multiple community programs, such as Pets and Women to Safety, Paws Across America, Humane Education, behavior and training classes and an in-house veterinary clinic.

Donations to the shelter go toward providing these services and fulfilling the mission of AWS.

“Seeing Cache debut and launching his blog have been a lot of fun for us, said SIS Bank President Blaine Boudreau. “We are happy to see his name bring joy and aid to others—humans and animals alike!”
