SACO — The Thornton Academy boys soccer team was shut out the visiting South Portland club 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
After a close first half in which neither team scored, South Portland would take over in the second and collect three goals.
Kyle Patterson, Cooper Mehlhorn and Charlie Cronin scored for the South Portland while Mehlhorn and Cronin also picked up assists.
TA keeper Cam Lebreque racked up five saves while South Portland goalie Riley Hanson made three stops.
PORTLAND 2, KENNEBUNK 0
The Rams fell to 0-2 on Tuesday after a 2-0 shutout loss to Portland.
The Bulldogs scored both goals in the first half, the first by Sam Nkurunziza and the second by Gracien Mukwa. The game was called at halftime due to lightning.
Golf
MASSABESIC 7, BIDDEFORD 6
The Mustangs grinded out a 7-6 win over Biddeford at Dutch Elm on Tuesday.
Ethan Laverriere led Massabesic with a score of 46 while Jonah Roy was close behind at 47. Nick White shot a 51 for the Mustangs.
Carter Burnell led the Tigers with a match-low 42, while Hunter Demeule and Liam Turner each shot 52.
KENNEBUNK 11, MARSHWOOD 2
The Rams cruised to a win over Marshwood at Webhannet on Tuesday.
Owen Manahan led Kennebunk with a match-low 41, while Gavin Kim finished with 45 and Casen Luck 48.
Volleyball
Thornton Academy 3, Marshwood 1
The Trojans grinded out a 3-1 win over Marshwood on Tuesday.
TA took the first set 25-10 then the second 25-13. The Hawks answered back with a 25-19 win in the third. The Trojans went on to win the fourth and final set 25-18.
TA’s Olivia how racked up seven aces and 11 assists, while Sarah Casey added eight aces and Laura Fortier chipped in five kills.
BIDDEFORD 3, CHEVERUS 0
The Tigers shut out Cheverus 3-0 on Tuesday to pick up their first win of the season. Biddeford will play Greely on Thursday.
