GORHAM — Sophomore Maddison Egan scored in the 83rd minute to break a 1-1 tie, delivering a 2-1 season-opening win for the University of Southern Maine Huskies over the Thomas College Terriers Friday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Southern Maine leads the 16-game series between the two schools 13-1-2.

USM outshot the Terriers, 14-2, and had a 4-2 lead in corner kicks.

Thomas junior keeper Kayla Gordon of Wiscasset made six saves in the loss.
