Froome extends lead in Spanish Vuelta
Colombian rider Miguel Angel Lopez won the mountainous 15th stage of the Spanish Vuelta Sunday while Tour de France winner Chris Froome tacked a few seconds onto his overall lead.
A late surge by Froome over the final meters of the punishing ride and a final special-category ascent allowed him to increase the gap over Vincenzo Nibali from 55 seconds to 1:01.

WNBA: Maya Moore scored 26 points and Renee Montgomery added 18 to help Minnesota secure the top seed in the playoffs with an 86-72 victory over Washington in St. Paul, Minnesota.
• Tina Charles had 18 points and 18 rebounds to help New York clinch the third seed in the playoffs with an 82-81 win over the Dallas Wings in Arlington, Texas and extend the Liberty’s winning streak to 10 games.
• Breanna Stewart scored 29 points, making two free throws with 15.6 seconds left for a three-point lead, and the Seattle Storm beat the Chicago Sky 85-80 in Rosemont, Illinois.
• Brittney Griner scored 30 points and the host Phoenix Mercury closed the regular season with an 84-70 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday to secure the fifth seed in the playoffs.
• Nneka Ogwumike scored 21 points, Candace Parker had a double-double and the Los Angeles Sparks closed the regular season with an 81-70 win over Connecticut in Los Angeles.

WORLD CUP QUALIFYING: Tiny Luxembourg held France to a shocking 0-0 draw in World Cup qualifying in Group A.
The point keeps France on top, one point ahead of Sweden, which earlier beat Belarus 4-0 in Borisov. The Netherlands got third by beating Bulgaria 3-1 in Amsterdam, keeping alive faint Dutch hopes of qualifying for the World Cup next year.
• Romelu Lukaku was on target to give Belgium a 2-1 win over Greece and a place in the World Cup.
The victory leaves the Belgians on top with an unassailable eight-point lead in Group H over second-place Bosnia and Herzegovina. That makes Belgium the first European team confirmed for the World Cup besides host nation Russia.
• Switzerland extended its perfect record in World Cup qualifying by defeating Latvia 3-0 for its eighth straight victory, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal edged Hungary 1-0 to stay close at the top of Group B.

NHL: The Arizona Coyotes signed restricted free-agent right wing Anthony Duclair to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.
