A 22-year-old Westbrook man suffered minor injuries from a gunshot wound he received Sunday afternoon during an altercation in the parking lot of a carwash at Morrill’s Corner in Portland, police said. A Virginia man was arrested and charged in the shooting.
The shooting was reported at 12:48 p.m. at ScrubaDub Car Wash at 1185 Forest Ave. The victim fled after the shooting and was later located and interviewed by police, Lt. Robert Martin said in a statement. The man, whom police would not identify, did not require medical attention for his injury.
The victim was shot during an argument with Abdul Rahman Timbo, 23, of Virginia, Martin said. Timbo fled the scene but was taken into custody a short distance away by officers responding to the call.
Timbo was charged with attempted murder and reckless conduct with a firearm. He was being held Sunday night at the Cumberland County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.
Martin said the initial investigation suggests the two men are acquainted with each other and the shooting was not a random act.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Portland Police Department at (207) 874-8475.
