WESTBROOK — Westbrook resident James Brooks was killed Aug. 25 after being struck by a vehicle driven by his co-worker.

Brooks, 41, was hit while on foot at 48 Spiller Drive, where he was employed by Sigco. He died at the scene of the incident.

The driver of the vehicle was Nestus Mukeshimana, 31, of Portland, who was uninjured in the crash. Westbrook Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene at 1:35 a.m. The crash has been reconstructed and according to police, as of Tuesday night, a cause has yet to be determined.

According to his obituary, Brooks was born in Portland and graduated from Gorham High School in 1995. A graveside service was held Aug. 30 at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
