The Rev. William Chadwick
Chadwick recognized
Gorham resident and Westbrook-Gorham Rotary Club President The Rev. William Chadwick has received a citation for excellence from Jose Moreno, Guatemala’s minister of social development, for work done in Guatemala.
Chadwick and teams from Stroudwater Christian Church in Portland have been traveling to Guatemala for many years to work on health and education projects in the Rio Dulce region. His most recent trip in February included installing clean eco-stoves and supplying Spanish language textbooks, items partially funded by the Rotary Club.
In addition, he has been working on developing local and international partnerships for a large Rotary International grant to provide clean water for several villages in the Rio Dulce region in 2018.
Foodmobile to visit
Good Shepherd Food Bank will partner with the Gorham Food Pantry to bring its foodmobile to Gorham, according to Diane O’Neill, president of the pantry.
The foodmobile is scheduled to be in town on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 9-10:30 a.m., in the parking lot at Saint Anne’s Church, 299 Main St.
It has refrigerated bays and is filled with many types of fresh and non-perishable food items. Anyone in need of food assistance is welcome to attend. There is no cost.
“The variety, quantity and quality of foods given to local residents at last year’s event was impressive and very well received by all in attendance,” O’Neill said.
Patrons are asked to bring their own shopping bags and boxes. Food quantities will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
