Giving up seven runs in the first inning sends the struggling Sea Dogs to their sixth straight setback.

Portland starter Trey Ball struggled and surrendered seven runs, five unearned, on four hits in just 2/3 inning as the Sea Dogs fell to the Trenton Thunder 8-0 at Trenton, New Jersey.

Mike Ford added a solo home run for Trenton (84-43) in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Thunder starter Jose Mesa went six scoreless innings, allowing one hit while fanning eight and walking a pair of batters.

The loss was the sixth straight for the Sea Dogs (59-67) and their seventh consecutive road defeat, dating back to Aug. 13 in Bowie against the Baysox.

Josh Tobias singled to extend his hitting streak to a season-high eight games, with Deiner Lopez picking up the other Portland hit.
