BIDDEFORD — Motorists headed south on the Maine Turnpike on Wednesday night will have to find an alternate route to gain access to the busy thoroughfare.
According to a press release, the Maine Turnpike Exit 32 southbound ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday as workers perform bridge work at the site.
The turnpike will remain open to traffic, but drivers will not be able to use the southbound ramp during the construction activities.
Turnpike officials advise motorists to seek an alternate route while the construction takes place.
Access to the southbound turnpike will remain open at Exit 36 in Saco and Exit 25 in Kennebunk.
Variable Message Boards will remind motorists using the turnpike of the upcoming closure and when the Exit 32 ramp reopens.
The temporary Exit 32 closure is not expected to affect commuters using the Park and Ride lot on Route 111 for the Zoom Bus between Biddeford and Portland.
The Maine Turnpike Authority’s 1610 AM radio station also will be used to provide updates about the Exit 32 construction and subsequent reopening.
