WEST KENNEBUNK — Derusha, or Rooshi as she’s lovingly called, is a very special ol’ gal seeking a forever home through the Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunk.

At 15 years young, she prefers to spend her days resting and relaxing though she’s known to bat around a toy from time to time. She’s an independent cat that’s more likely to curl up in a chair of her own than in your lap, but at her age, we can’t blame her for knowing what she wants.

AWS calls her their babushka, with her adorable little face and cute raspy meow. She can be affectionate and prefers gentle pets on the head or having her ears scratched.

Rooshi’s ideal home would be calm and quiet with a like-minded roommate – a fellow retiree, so to say. Her new person(s) should want a feline companion nearby but not a lap cat. Rooshi doesn’t require a lot of attention and wants nothing more than the security of a new home an the love of a new person. Rooshi would prefer to be the only pet and would do best in a home without children.

Lake many seniors, she takes some medication to help with little old lady aches and pains.

Like all senior cats at AWS, Derusha’s adoption fee is only $10. If you have a quiet home and are looking for a new feline roommate, please consider opening up your heart and home to this very special cat. To learn more about her, please visit our website at http://animalwelfaresociety.org/animals/rooshi/.

While Rooshi waits for her new family to come along, she is staying in the AWS/Cleo Fund offices at the Boston House. Her two office mates Marie O’Brien, Cleo Fund Manager, and Betsy Buoma, Cleo Fund Assistant, are happy to chat about her, so please feel free to give either one of them a call at 985-3244.
