OGUNQUIT — A veteran municipal employee with more than 25 years of experience in government is the top choice of selectmen tasked with finding a new town manager for Ogunquit.

On Wednesday, members of the Ogunquit Select Board revealed that they have reached a tentative contractual agreement with Patricia Finnigan of Saco.

She is the former town manager of Camden and will succeed interim town manager Donald Gerrish, who has been filling the role since the Select Board accepted the resignation of former Town Manager Tom Fortier on Feb. 7.

According to Charles Waite, Ogunquit Select Board chairman, the search was nationwide and attracted more than 50 applicants.

“The Select Board was pleased with the caliber of people this position attracted, which speaks well of Ogunquit,” Waite said. “Pat brings a depth of experience and a unique set of skills that will help us build upon the great thing Ogunquit has to offer and what we hope to accomplish in the future.”

Ogunquit Select Board members will vote to finalize Finnigan’s $110,000 annual contract with the town at a special meeting on Monday Aug. 7.

Finnigan said she’s pleased with the opportunity to serve the town.

“Ogunquit is a special place with a combination of natural beauty and resources, character and charm, and a diverse and engaged community, which are tremendous assets,” she said. “I look forward to working with the Select Board, the town employees and citizens to gain a better understanding of people’s goals and work together to achieve them.”

Her experience includes serving as Portland’s assistant city manager and as city manager for Auburn and for Camden.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and has completed graduate courses at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.

The other finalist for the Ogunquit Town Manager position was Kris Tucker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, former director of economic and community development for Northhampton County, Virginia.
