A Delaware man has been arrested for selling crack and heroin in the Bath-Brunswick area.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said  Kyle Rivers, 25, of Bear, Delaware is charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs (heroin, crack cocaine), a Class A crime, punishable by up to 30 years incarceration and a $50,000 fine.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland, for the past month, MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force agents investigated the  distribution of heroin and crack cocaine by Rivers throughout the area.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, MDEA agents and Bath police stopped Rivers in a rental car en route to allegedly deliver heroin and crack cocaine to a location in Bath. Rivers was arrested without incident and transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail where bail was set at $50,000 cash.

MDEA Agents and Brunswick police also conducted a search of Rivers’ room at a Brunswick hotel. Seized were 772 doses of heroin, 63 doses of crack cocaine, 476 Xanax pills and $10,500 of suspected drug proceeds. The street value of the seized drugs is $25,000.

Charges were aggravated due to Rivers’ prior conviction for heroin possession in Maryland, according to McCausland, and Rivers is currently on probation for that conviction.

During the investigation, arrest and search, MDEA agents were assisted by officers from Topsham, Bath and Brunswick, as well as deputies from Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties.
