Bath Police Department is investigating a serious two-vehicle collision that sent three to the hospital Tuesday afternoon — one with life-threatening injuries.
The crash was reported at approximately 1:25 p.m. near the intersection of Middle Street and the southbound Leeman Highway on ramp.
According to Bath police, there were four people involved — one person in pickup truck and three in a Jeep. Three of them, all men, were taken to hospitals.
Lt. Robert Savary said a passenger in the Jeep was ejected and was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with life threatening injuries.
Another person had serious injuries and a third had minor injuries. The fourth wasn’t injured.
Police were still investigating the cause of the crash and weren’t releasing further information while a crash reconstruction was ongoing. Savary said it could be Wednesday before they issue more information on the crash and the identity of the people involved.
The approach to the highway was closed between Washington Street and the highway as was Middle Street between the highway approach and Centre Street while police investigated. The roads have reopened to normal traffic.
