A 50-year-old Howland man died Saturday after his motorcycle went into a skid and struck a Chevrolet sedan outside a store parking lot in Lincoln.
The crash occurred on Route 2 in front of Drinkwater’s Variety, 663 West Broadway, about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Lincoln police.
Officers found the motorcyclist, Jeffrey Ludden, dead at the scene. His motorcycle had skidded into the driver’s side of the red sedan, which was heavily damaged.
The driver of the sedan, whose name was not released, suffered injuries that police said were not life-threatening. She was taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln for treatment.
A section of Route 2 was closed for about five hours Saturday as Lincoln police and Maine State Police investigated the cause of the crash, said Lincoln police Officer Ted Blais. State police brought in an expert to reconstruct the crash, he said.
“They came to the scene and they gathered evidence, but they still have work to do,” Blais said Sunday afternoon.
