KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk Police have welcomed a mother bird and her babies who are nesting outside the station.

The police department reported on its Facebook page Thursday there was “a small tenant” in an employee entry way on the side of the building. The tenant, a bird they’ve dubbed “Robin” has been very protective of her nest and the eggs she’s laid inside it, said police.

Police reported that Wednesday night, two of the three eggs had hatched.

Officers were asked to use a different entrance so they would not disturb the “maternity ward” where the mother birds and babies were resting.
