MADISON — A Garland man was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple counts of theft and burglary for allegedly stealing a farm tractor from a Madison residence, ramming a stolen vehicle into an officer’s car and leading police on a chase.

According to a news release from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, Lee Henderson, 22, was charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of theft for his alleged role in a burglary in Madison and for allegedly committing two residential burglaries in Moxie Township on Moxie Pond Road and Shirley Tote Road, and for theft of a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle from one of the Moxie Township residences. All three of the burglaries occurred in the periond of July 3-9.

On Wednesday, Somerset County Detective Mathew Cunningham responded to a report of a residential burglary on White School House Road in Madison, where the farm tractor had been stolen. Also on Wednesday, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Henderson after he allegedly had fled the scene of an attempted burglary in Corinna, where a vehicle was stolen. According to police, Henderson rammed the responding officer’s vehicle and led officers on a chase. Henderson later crashed the vehicle in Dexter, where he was arrested.

During their investigation, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office discovered Henderson was apparently responsible for a reported burglary and stolen farm tractor in Madison.

Henderson is being held in the Penobscot County Jail.
