UNION — Two drivers died in a head-on crash on Route 17 in Union Wednesday evening.

Sherry Cloutier, 52, of Augusta was driving west in a 2011 Ford sedan when she crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Saab sedan operated by Angela Knight-Boege, 49, of Warren, police said.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in either vehicle. The crash occurred 300 yards east of the Shepard Hill Road at about 5 p.m., said Chief Deputy Tim Carroll of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
