KENNEBUNK — The Kennebunk woman seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on High Street in Kennebunk on Wednesday has died.

Katherine Moxham, 46, of Kennebunk, succumbed to her injuries Friday from the injuries she sustained when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a pickup truck on High Street on Wednesday afternoon.

She was listed as in critical condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland as of Thursday.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the Moxham family and to everyone impacted by this tragedy,” Kennebunk Dep. Police Chief Michael Nugent said Friday evening.

Nugent said Thursday that police and Kennebunk Fire Rescue responded to a reported crash involving a bicyclist and a pickup truck on High Street between Cat Mousam Road (Route 99) and Harrisecket Road on Wednesday.

Nugent said, are that Moxham was riding her bicycle eastbound on High Street when she was struck by a pickup truck traveling west that had crossed the centerline.

The truck, which Nugent said was operated by a male juvenile, then ran off the road and struck a culvert. Moxham was taken by Kennebunk emergency responders to Maine Medical Center in Portland with what Nugent described at the time as “serious injuries.”

The juvenile was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford with minor injuries.

The 1-mile stretch of road, which carries Route 9A, was shut down for about 3 ½ hours while the Kennebunk Police Department was assisted by an accident reconstructionist from the Maine State Warden’s Service.

Nugent said Friday the accident is still under investigation.
