York County Sheriff Bill King said Monday police received an anonymous call at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday of reported gunfire and fireworks coming from a residence on Cape Road in Limington.
Police responded to the reported disturbance where they encountered Aaron Preston, 26, of Buxton — who King said was “heavily intoxicated” — carrying a rifle outside.
Deputies ordered Preston to drop the weapon and he complied, King said, although he refused further orders to submit and continued walking around intoxicated.
He also denied having any other weapons on him, but acted “in a furtive manner,” King said.
Preston was eventually subdued with a Taser and handcuffed. Deputies found a Glock pistol and knife in his shorts pocket.
Preston was charged with aggravated reckless conduct, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and refusing to sign a criminal summons.
He was scheduled to make his first appearance in front of a judge Monday.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
