ARUNDEL – An Arundel man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening a customer from a Craigslist sale with a gun.

York County Sheriff deputies were called to a residence near the Dutch Elm Golf Course in Arundel for a reported threatening with a gun complaint around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday , according to a press release from York County Sheriff Bill King.

Deputies met with a New Hampshire man who said he had purchased an air conditioner the previous day online on Craigslist and picked it up that day around 2 p.m. from the seller, Noel Holmes, at Holmes’ home on Clearview Drive, according to King.

The buyer said Holmes had offered to take the air conditioning unit back if it did not work to his satisfaction, according to King.

The buyer told police that Saturday night, he discovered the unit did not perform to his satisfaction and through a series of text messages, had made arrangements to return the unit Sunday before 10 a.m.

The buyer from New Hampshire said he returned the air conditioner unit and during the return transaction he and Holmes got into a discussion about some of the content of the text messages that Holmes perceived to be bullying, according to King.

The buyer claimed Holmes went into the garage and returned with a firearm, and shot it beside his head in a threatening manner.  The New Hampshire man left and contacted the sheriff’s office, according to King.

Sheriff deputies interviewed Holmes about his contact with the alleged victim.  Holmes admitted to having a firearm and led deputies to a 9 mm pistol that was in the garage.

Inspection of the firearm showed one round was missing from the magazine and the weapon was seized by sheriff’s deputies, according to King.

Holmes, 42, was arrested for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, according to King.

He was released on $1000 bail and is scheduled for his first appearance on Sept. 8 at Alfred Superior Court.
