PORTLAND — A two-run homer by Mike Olt was all the Sea Dogs (34-38) needed as they defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (31-44) 2-1 in a rain-shortened six-inning game on Tuesday night at a Hadlock Field.
After a single by Michael Chavis to lead off the second inning, Olt hit an opposite-field home run off of Shane Dawson (1-8) into the Sea Dogs’ bullpen to give Portland a 2-1 lead.
Taylor Grover (2-3) earned the win with four scoreless inning of relief and allowed just two hits.
The game was delayed 19 minutes from the outset. New Hampshire struck for a run off of Sea Dogs’ starter Travis Lakins in the first inning in a sac fly by Danny Jansen.
Lakins allowed just the one run on two hits in two innings, but was lifted after a 24-minute rain delay in the bottom of the second.
