The Westbrook American reported on June 26, 1957, that Ray LeTarte of Westbrook caught a 4-pound trout in Sebago Lake.

Johnny Cumberland was playing for the league-leading Lions in Westbrook Little League. Cumberland became a pitcher for four major league teams including the New York Yankees and later was a pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox.
