
She was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Biddeford, a daughter of Clement J. and Antoinette (Thibodeau) Benoit. Her family moved to Augusta when she was an infant and she received her primary education there. Returning to Biddeford she attended Biddeford High school and graduated in the Class of 1943.
On Feb. 3, 1948, she married Norman G. Morin in St. Andre’s Church.
Jeanne began her career with Canal Bank in Saco and later Biddeford Savings, eventually becoming a loan officer there. During her employment, she took many banking courses at the University of Southern Maine. She retired in 1990, after 20 years at Biddeford Savings.
Jeanne had been past president of Beta Sigma Phi, the Biddeford-Saco Jaycees, and past treasurer of the local chapter of Altrusa International and the York County Community Concert Assn. She was a former member of the Thursday Club, the Webber Hospital Auxiliary, the Committee for Biddeford Downtown Development and the Southern Maine-Gorham Alumni Association. After retiring, she did volunteer work for the St. Joseph Church Restoration and the Biddeford Food Pantry.
In her younger years, she had enjoyed hiking and skiing. She enjoyed reading, gardening and piano. Most of all she loved time spent with her daughter, son and their families.
Jeanne was preceded in death by: Norman, her husband of 54 years in 2002; and by a granddaughter, Valerie Morin in 1999.
She is survived by: a son, Norman G. Morin Jr. and his wife, Pearl, of Winterport; a daughter, Diane Cantara and her husband, Jeffrey, of Biddeford; six grandchildren, Shawn, Timothy, Carl, Ross, Melony and Corey; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Tylar, Camellia, Cora, Kenna, and Avelyn. She also leaves behind her dear friend, Raymond Bonang of Saco.
Visiting hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
