School Administrative District 75 voters approved a $38 million spending plan for 2017-18 on Tuesday.
The new $38,043,490 spending plan is a $605,376, or 1.6 percent, increase from the current budget. SAD 75 expects to see an overall decrease in subsidy of $307,108.
According to the district, the budget passed with a 78 percent approval rating. The unofficial tally Tuesday night was 1,129-314.
Each of the four towns in SAD 75 passed the budget. Unofficial tallies are: • Bowdoin, 103-33 • Bowdoinham, 178-54 • Harpswell, 455-111
“We sincerely appreciate the support and commitment that the voters in our four towns have shown by approving the budget for next year,” said Superintendent Brad Smith in a statement issued Tuesday night. “The budget was prepared with a minimal increase, yet will allow us to continue to provide a quality educational experience for our students.”
Smith thanked the finance committee, school board and those involved in preparing the budget.
“Our goal was to present a budget that balanced the needs of our students with the ability of our community members to support it financially,” he said.
