BRUNSWICK
The regional finals have arrived in high school sports, with action set to begin today.
Richmond opens things up for area teams at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, with the softball squad set to take on Greenville at 3:30 p.m., while the baseball team meets Searsport at 6:30 p.m. in Class D South action.
Neither Bobcat squad met their opponent this season.
Things are busy for three teams on Wednesday.
At Brunswick, Don Glover’s Dragons host Lewiston in the boys Class A North lacrosse regional final at 6 p.m.
This is the fourth meeting between the teams this year, with Brunswick (14-0) coming out on top so far in each occasion, including a 10-5 triumph over the Blue Devils in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference title game.
In baseball action, Lisbon and Monmouth Academy meet in Standish at 6:30 p.m. in the Class C South title game. This is the rubber match, as the Greyhounds and Mustangs split their two meetings this season.
And, Mt. Ararat, the No. 7 seed in Class A North, looks to continue its cinderella run against three-time defending state champ Bangor at 5 p.m. in the Class A North final.
The game will be played at Morton Field in Augusta.
