Wyley Fitzpatrick captured the 400-meter run for Mt. Ararat, edging her teammate Sara York in a time of 1:01.64.
Also for Mt. Ararat, Katie Lynch had a solid day, taking second in the 100 dash and third in the 300 hurdles. Fitzpatrick was also third in the 200 and fourth in the long jump, while York picked up points with a sixth-place finish in the 800.
Lauren Labbay was third in the pole vault and sixth in the long jump, Haley Frizzle seventh in the shot put, and Ashley Parker and Hope Langworthy fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault.
“Katie Lynch was a pleasant surprise in the 100 even though she was seeded third, and the improvement in the 300 hurdles was a plus,” said Mt. Ararat coach Diane Fournier. “Wyley in the 400 and 200, I knew she could do well and she did better than well. And, Lauren Labbay had a great day in the pole vault and long jump, along with Sara York in the 400, which was really big, and in the 800.”
For Brunswick, the top finisher on the day was Micaela Ashby, who claimed second in the 3,200 along with fourth in the 1,600. The Dragons had a 3-4-5 finish in the 400, led by Grace Casey, Macy Katanga and Kyra Teboe. Isabella Pols claimed fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 3,200, Emily LaRochelle was sixth in the 300 hurdles, Teboe seventh in the long jump, Rosalie White fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put, with Rachel Johnson claiming seventh in the discus, and Maddy Wayne was tied for fifth in the pole vault.

On the boys side, Dragon Seth White was all over the scoresheet, taking first in the 100 dash and long jump while helping the 4×100 relay to a win. White finished the 100 in 11.23, and jumped 20-04.50 in the long jump. He also finished fourth in the 200.

For Mt. Ararat, Cameron Meier captured the 3,200, along with taking second in the 1,600 and third in the 800. Meier also ran a leg of the winning 4×800 relay.
“Cameron did have a good day, no question,” agreed Fournier. “He is a ‘tough’ individual and has been inconsistent at times this season, but I feel he is pulling it together for the championships.”
Mt. Ararat also won the 4 x 800 relay and finished fourth in the 4×100.
Individually, Mt. Ararat featured Tyler Bernier (seventh, 400), Lucas Bergeron (seventh, 3,200), Matthew Donovan (fourth, 300 hurdles), Hunter Beebe (sixth, high jump), Dalton Streeter (third, triple jump; fifth, long jump) and Caden Pond (fifth, discus; sixth, shot put).
“As the distance coach, Lucas Bergeron, a freshman, placing in the 3,200 and improving on his overall time by 10 seconds was great,” said Fournier. “Dalton Streeter did very well in the triple jump with his 40-plus jump. Tyler Bernier did very well after being out for almost a year. Matt Donovan in the 300 hurdles has been improving all season and it was a great effort, with his fourth place a personal-record.
“I have to mention Max Spelke who began hurdling two-and-a-half weeks ago, who had been out of state the day before for another activity, came to the meet, contested in both the javelin and the 300 hurdles, not running his best time, but placing eighth all the same, and then returned to his other out of state activity. A big thanks to Max to make that effort, not many would.”
Messalonskee easily won the boys meet, racking up 133.50 points to runner-up Lewiston’s 106.50. Cony, Edward Little and Brunswick rounded out the top five, followed by Mt. Ararat in sixth.
