A home at 196 Pleasant St., in Richmond was damaged by fire Saturday morning, but wasn’t a total loss thanks to quick work by firefighters.
The occupants weren’t home when the fire broke out.
Richmond Fire Department got the call at 9:35 a.m. after smoke was spotted rising from the rear of the home by a passerby.
Firefighters arrived quickly, according to Richmond Fire Chief Matt Roberge.
No one was injured.
Most of the fire was contained to a third floor sunroom where the fire is believed to have started. Floors beneath suffered water damage, including the kitchen. The home, owned by Kent and Eileen Leonard, was insured.
While currently uninhabitable, the home can be repaired, Roberge said.
The American Red Cross was contacted to help the family.
Bowdoinham, Gardiner and Dresden fire departments also responded to the scene.
