TOPSHAM — Bath Middle School defeated Mt. Ararat, 4-3, in baseball action on Thursday.
Bath scored one in the second after Boden Gould doubled and scored on a single by Thomas Guild, who notched another hit later in the game.
The Destroyers rallied for three runs in the fourth when Chase Nicolino walked and scored on a fielder’s choice. Brenton Cahill then reached on a fielder’s choice and scored after a bases-loaded walk to Ty Knowlton. Brogan Shaw worked a walk and later scored on a bases-loaded walk to cap the rally.
Gabe Aucoin pitched six innings for the win, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out 13 and walking two Mt. Ararat batters. Ty Knowlton pitched the seventh inning, striking out two and walking one.
In a second game earlier in the week, Bath fell to Auburn, 10-4.
Auburn struck for four runs in the first, three in the second and one each in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to notch the win. Auburn pitching combined to allow four runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking four Bath batters.
Gavin Phillips, Knowlton and Jansen Morrison handled the pitching for Bath, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits while striking out four and walking eight.
Bath hitters scattered nine singles. Brenton Cahill, Sawyer Stead, Aucoin, Gavin Ballegeron, and Morrison had one each, while Knowlton and Boden Gould notched two.
