BATH — Strong pitching and big hits helped the Bath Middle School softball team push past Mt. Ararat, 11-4, recently.
Trailing 4-3 in the fifth inning, walks and errors left the bases loaded for Bath (4- 2), when Julia Goddard (two singles, one run, one RBI) poked the ball into right field to even the score. With the bases loaded and one out, Abby Carpenter (one double, two runs, four RBIs) sent a hard ground ball deep down the left-field line, opening up the game.
The Destroyers breathed easy with offensive help from Catelyn Bradford, Brooke Kulis, Katelyn Anderson and Hailie Johnson.
Camdyn Johnson was strong on the mound for Bath through seven innings. Battling Mt. Ararat’s aggressive lineup, Johnson struck out 16 and walked seven.
Mt. Ararat pitchers combined for three strikeouts and nine walks.
The Destroyers will travel to Oxford Hills today.
