Share your life, and find the finest joy man can know. Do not be stingy with your heart. Get out of yourself into the life of others, and new life will flow into you —share and share alike. Joseph Fort Newton

On May 8, 1914 Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May “Mother’s day.” Sunday, May 14 is Mother’s Day this year. It is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. This special day is a tribute to mothers and grandmothers who pass their heritage on to us so we can offer it to the next generation. What better hope for the future than a nurturing mother’s heart that is concerned for the next generation hoping to make tomorrow a better place?

What should a mother be? She will be in awe of this miracle of life! A mother’s arms will hold and strengthen this new life with prayers, providing guidance and her heart will always love. Only our children really matter. They are the real treasure on earth. A treasure that will never be lost, destroyed or rust away. Magical eyes always looking out for children are prized treasures.

Someone wrote that, “A mother’s love is like a rose always blooming, forever caring, always giving and forever sharing.” (That is beautiful.)

However, life has unpredictable changes. The fear of loss. Mothers die young leaving young children. Youngsters move forward without a mother. Sons get killed in war. Mothers grieve from the cavern of their hearts. The loss of someone we held dear can be a big hurdle and adjustment. We live in an imperfect world.
