WESTFIELD, Mass. — The University of Southern Maine women’s track and field team won five events and posted 20 top-three results en route to winning its 18th consecutive Little East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday at the annual New England Alliance/ LEC/ MASCAC Championships meet held at Westfield (Mass.) State University.
The Huskies, who have won every LEC outdoor title since 2000, tallied 188 points to take the team title over runner-up Rhode Island College that scored 113 points. The University of Massachusetts Boston edged in-state foe University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 78-74, for the third spot.
Jasmine Boyle of Brunswick won the 5,000- meter run for USM, finishing in 18:48.99, while Liz O’Neal of Brunswick captured the 400 hurdles in 1:03.53.
Boyle also claimed second in the 1,500 (4:53.63).
Qualified USM competitors will travel to Williams College this upcoming Friday and Saturday for the annual New England Division III Championships
