LEWISTON — Seventhranked Wesleyan University ended the Bates College women’s tennis team’s four-match winning streak by a 9-0 score Saturday at Wallach Tennis Center.

Bates finished 7-11 overall and 4-5 in NESCAC play, the Bobcats’ most conference victories since 2010.

The visiting Cardinals (11-3, 5-3 NESCAC) saw their defending NCAA singles champion, Eudice Chong, outlast Bates junior Maisie Silverman of Brunswick in a 6-4, 6-3 battle at No. 1 singles, the most competitive match of the day.

Silverman also teamed with Kate Rosenthal at No. 1 doubles in an 8-2 setback.
