YORK COUNTY— The deadline for college scholarships for students in area high schools is almost here.
The Spirit of Service Scholarship will be will be awarded to three graduating seniors, one from each of our area high schools; Thornton Academy, Old Orchard Beach High School, and Biddeford High School.
The applicant must demonstrate a passion for helping others, strong leadership skills and has worked to improve the community outside of the school’s campus. This $300 scholarship has an application deadline of Friday, April 28.
These scholarships are sponsored by State Sen. Justin Chenette through his nonprofit organization, the Saco Bay Center for Civic Engagement.
Last year’s recipients were Janelle Poitras of Saco who is studying business at Stonehill College and Brandon Saucier of Old Orchard Beach who is also studying business at Southern Maine Community College.
Applications can be found at sacobaycenter.org and must be turned into the guidance office at each respective high school before April 28.
