HIRAM — In a back-and-forth contest in rainy conditions on Saturday, Sacopee Valley scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh inning for a walk-off 12-11 non-conference over Richmond.

The Bobcats fell to 2-1, while the Hawks improved to 1-1.

Austin Eastman and Cameron Cyr each doubled for the hosts, and Kaleb Reinhart singled twice.

Richmond, which trailed 6-0 and 10-6, rallied in the seventh for five runs. The Bobcats took advantage of six Sacopee Valley errors, scoring 11 runs despite picking up just four hits.

Down 10-6, the bottom of the order — freshmen Justin Vachon, Kyle Tilton (single), Dakota Gilpatrick and Ben Gardner — each reached base. Matt Rines singled in a run, and Brendan Emmons lifted a sacrifice fly ball. Back-to-back bases-loaded walks to Zach Small and Danny Stewart tied the game, and Nate Kendrick plated a run with a ground out for an 11-10 Bobcats lead.

But, the Hawks tied it on an RBI single by DJ Shea, and Peter Cates dropped down a bunt on a squeeze play to win it.

Emmons and Kendrick also singled for Richmond.
