BRUNSWICK

Coastal Humane Society is giving shelter animals studio quality portraits to help them find new homes. A non-profit organization called Shelter Art Foundation will be donating a photo studio and organizing a photo workshop at Coastal Humane Society for shelter staff and volunteers on Friday April 14th at the shelter’s Range Road facility in Brunswick.

Shelter Art Foundation equips and teaches photo techniques to animal shelter staff and volunteers in order to help animals find their forever homes. The foundation has found that a vast amount of potential adopters search online first for shelter animals to adopt, therefore making each profile photo a critical first impression, oftentimes being the difference between animals standing out or being overlooked.

Through Shelter Art Foundation, Purina and their pet search engine Petfinder.com have helped give the ‘star treatment’ to over 400,000 shelter and rescue animals across the nation. Foundation-trained mentors stay and work with shelter photo teams until they’re comfortable with the techniques and photo equipment. With support from Purina and local shelter communities, the Foundation continues to expand its reach.
