HARPSWELL
Cumberland County Sheriff ’s Office announced Wednesday night that missing 16-year-old Lilia Simmons of Harpswell is with her brother and is safe.
No other details about the investigation into the missing teen were released.
The sheriff ’s office issued a press release Wednesday afternoon seeking the public’s help in locating Simmons, who had been missing since Monday. She was reported missing by her mother.
Simmons was last seen at Harpswell Coastal Academy in Brunswick on Monday afternoon, where she is a student.
She has no access to a phone or vehicle, according to the sheriff ’s office, so her parents were very concerned for her wellbeing.
Before Simmons was located, Head of School John D’Anieri said Wednesday that Harpswell Coastal Academy would be having meetings with the student body this morning to talk about the situation and to offer counseling.
He said the school kept families up to speed and worked closely with the sheriff ’s office to help in any way possible.
