BATH — Scientist and explorer Paul Andrew Mayewski will be the featured speaker when the University of Maine’s Mid-coast Alumni Chapter holds its annual Spring Dinner on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Kennebec Tavern, 119 Commercial St., Bath.

Currently the director of UMaine’s Climate Change Institute, Mayewski has been featured multiple times on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” PBS’ “NOVA,” and in many other national and global news programs and stories. He also appeared in the Emmy Award-winning TV documentary series “Years of Living Dangerously.”

Mayewski has led more than 55 expeditions to some of the planet’s most remote and high-altitude parts and has been the recipient of numerous scientific and academic awards from institutions throughout the world. His most recent book is “Journey Into Climate.”
