BATH
The International Assoication of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has launched an investigation into an allegation of missing funds at the Local S6 in Bath.
The Local S6 is the largest union at Bath Iron Works. The Local S6 referred questions to IAM headquarters.
“The only thing that we can confirm right now is that there is an investigation into the allegations of missing funds,” said IAM spokesman Jonathan Battaglia. “We have a process in place in our union that auditors will look into what people have said and see if the funds are missing and who’s responsible, and we’re still in the early stages of that.”
Battaglia said that no authorities are involved in the investigation, and it remains an internal matter. IAM wouldn’t elaborate on the nature of the allegation, but said that they hope to have more answers soon.
“We move as quickly as we can on these investigations,” said Battaglia.
The missing funds were first reported by the Bangor Daily News.
