According to a press release, Dayton School Department officials say School Bus 32 was struck by a passenger vehicle while en route to Saco about 8 a.m..
The bus was at a complete stop at the intersection of Hight and Hollis Road and there were 12 students on the bus at the time of the accident.
One student is being treated for what at this time appears to be minor injuries and law enforcement authorities are at the scene investigating the crash.
“We appreciate the unblemished safe driving record of drivers in Dayton. Fortunately the bus was at a complete stop at the time of the accident, and our driver acted swiftly to ensure the safety of his student passengers, and we are cooperating with emergency response,” said Jeremy Ray, Dayton Schools superintendent. “We are in the process of interviewing witnesses and reviewing bus camera footage at this hour.”
