JACKSON, N.H. — Hannah Miller became the first-ever Bowdoin nordic skier to earn All-American honors following a 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships hosted by UNH.
Miller competed in a pair of events, beginning with a 5k skate on Thursday where she put together a 31st place finish with a time of 16:52.0. The senior competed against racers from peer institutions like Colby and Williams, but also faced individuals from large Division 1 institutions like the University of Utah and the University of Colorado.
On Saturday, Miller earned All-American status with a 10th place finish in the 15k skate (40:50.5) while battling brutal conditions. Wind gusts and freezing temperatures made conditions difficult for racers in the event. The senior was the second east coast finisher and first Division 3 finisher in the event. Miller finished two seconds behind a member of the UNH ski team, while every other top-ten finisher represented a large west coast institution.
The previous best finish for a Bowdoin skier at nationals came in 2014 from Miller’s older sister Kaitlynn, with a 19th place result.
