BIDDEFORD — Biddeford High School Junior Katlyn Brooks has been selected as the first-annual Tiger PRIDE award recipient.
Thirty-nine students were nominated by their teachers for the five categories of perseverance, respect, integrity, dependability and empathy (PRIDE), with the overall award going to a student exemplifying excellence in all five categories.
Brooks, who is in her third year of high school, maintains a full college-prep schedule, is a member of the track team, has a class standing in the top 30 percent and is on course for a career in the medical field.
Awards were also given to students who exemplify each individual category.
The overall category award recipients were: Laurie M. Kanyamuneza and J. Leslie Nyambo (Perseverance); Kristen Eugley (Respect); Carl Davis (Integrity); Matt Perkins (Dependability); Aaron Dutremble (Empathy) and and Katlyn Brooks (Tiger PRIDE).
