BATH
The Bath City Clerk’s office confirmed on Tuesday that only one person has submitted nomination papers for the Ward 7 City Council position — Aaron Park.
Monday was the final day that residents of Ward 7 could submit nomination papers to be considered for the position — meaning that Park’s will be the only name appearing on the ballot. Park was also the only candidate to take out nomination papers for the seat.
Park, co- owner of the Brunswick restaurant Henry and Marty, currently sits on the Bath Forestry Committee and has previously served on the Solid Waste Management Committee.
“ I’m excited for the opportunity, and look forward to serving the people of Bath,” said Park.
The Ward 7 seat has been vacant since the passing of City Councilor Leverett “Tink” Mitchell in December. Mitchell had just been reelected to another three year term in November.
The special election will be held Feb. 21 from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. at the Bath Middle School cafeteria. The registrar of voters will be open from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a. m. to 4: 30 p. m., and on Feb. 18 from 10 a. m. to 1 p.m.
